CASE HARDENING
Using the latest nitrogen-based atmospheres from Afrox/BOC gases
combined with
automatic carbon potential control, we assure customers of reproducible
case depths of 0.1mm to 3.0mm with minimal distortion, even on mild
steel. The processes used are gas carburising, carbonitring and our very
own Lambda process.

HARDEN AND TEMPER
Assorted components for all types of
industry. Made from plain carbon and low-alloy steels, are hardened
under controlled atmospheres, ensuring a scale-free, decarburisation-free
surface finish. We also offer blackening after tempering, or a
shot-blasted finish, if preferred.

NORMALISING AND
ANNEALING
Normalising, under controlled
atmosphere, is done to homogenise the grain structure of castings and to
restore fine-grained properties of wrought steel after hot working.
We
carry this out under controlled atmosphere to prevent decarburisation
and scale. Annealing is also done. |

CARBON RESTORATION
Investment castings usually have a decarburised surface of up to
0.4mm deep, owing to cooling in air after casting. Medium carbon
forgings and components which have been previously decarburised during
annealing in air, are restored back to their original surface carbon
content. This often applies to fasteners, etc.
